Willow contains salicin, an aspirin-like chemical, and it is used for reducing fevers and for relief of pain caused by arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, back pain and headaches. Willow also contains tannins which make it effective for diarrhea with intestinal spasms. Willow does not appreciably thin the blood as aspirin does. |
