A diaphoretic, antibacterial, antiviral, and expectorant. This herb is indicated for colds and flu with wheezing coughs and irritation of mucus membranes, with tough stringy mucus, chronic pneumonia and early bronchitis. Spikenard is also an emmenagogue and oxytocic used with Blue Cohosh to stimulate productive contractions in labor and suppressed lochia with pain. |
