A prominent Chinese herb used to move blood, regulate the menses, sedate the shen (mind) and normalize liver function. Chinese Salvia root is useful for delayed, painful or irregular menstruation. It is also used for heart pain (angina pectoris) to reduce elevated blood pressure and to reduce damage from myocardial infarctions (heart attack). The reddish root is prescribed for chronic hepatitis and to reduce histamine response in allergies and auto-immune disease. |
